Open Element?
which of these XTREME COMPLETE ASSEMBLIES is the right one for a LG4? I dont know if its drop base, standard etc... it would be for a QJet on a 305, stock hood.

Re: Open Element?
The one you want for a factory air cleaner is PN 66-1201. That one is for factory Chevy/GMC air cleaners.

Looks like it would be taller than the original LG4 lid though - it looks to be the same as the taller '70s truck lids. You'll probably need to change to the taller truck filter (which is a good thing - more filter = more breathing potential). If it will fit under the hood, which it should if you have the stock intake and carb, then thats what you want.

Re: Open Element?
1-1/4" drop with the 3" tall filter will probably work the best. You do still have the Qjet right?

Re: Open Element?
I had the Edelbrock signature series chrome base and top with the 14x3 K&N filter. I then switched to the K&N Xstream lid but kept the rest (base and filter) the same. I have had these on the Q-jet, Holley and BG Demon under my still stock hood. Its a TransAm so it angles down at the front more than a Camaro does. It leaves a slight impresion on the underhood liner but nothing damaging.

Re: Open Element?
you just have to make sure you get a drop base, on my 14 x 3 i did have to use a 1/4 inch riser to make it fit well. just make sure that your rod sticking out of the carb isnt to long when you change the air cleaner set up or you will have a very noticable upwards dimple in your hood lol
