Problems, input please.....
I just purchased my 3rd camaro. It is a 83 Z28 that originally was a manual and had the crossfire 305 in it but has since been switched to an auto 350 turbo tranny and a 350. The first month or so I had the car it ran great I then had a minor leak in the water pump so I went ahead and replaced that. I do not know what happened from there but a few weeks ago it would hesitate when starting and if I did not keep my foot somewhat on the gas would stall and quit. I have a regular 4bbl q-jet with an electric choke on it and I sprayed on some carb cleaner and checked all my lines. After this it would still not start up right away but when I got it started and got on it a bit it would hold the idle and be fine but if i just started it and left it to idle would still die on me. I took the carb off but in the process of that snaped the fuel line coming from my pump to the front of the carb. I got a small piece of fuel line hose and put it back together and got the carb back on and the car started and ran but when I wen't to drive it it is like I have no acceleration at all after a stop. The car will rev up like crazy but it takes it like 10 sec to reach 25 mph and that is with my foot to the floor. I am not sure if it is my choke or maybe I have a bad fuel pump but I am kinda at a stand still with this..........

Re: Problems, input please.....
Well I have been reading alot of posts of people with some of the same symptoms as me and I had a bad alternator, I put a brand new one on and now the car starts up right away but still will not hold an idle...

Accelerator Pump, little rubber plunger thingy is the carb easy to replace and cheap. Honestly, I keep a hand full on the shelve at all times.

make sure the fuel line is not restricted anywhere at all
crimped, collapsed, anything
if it is then it can starve the carb
it happens
have had it happen to me
whent he carb starvesfor fuel then it will stumble/not accelerate especially when youre trying ot get to the top of each tranny gear
if it was the accel pump going bad then it would stumble every single time you rev it up
no mater if you were driving it or not
the accel pump squirts the jets of fuel near the top of the carb not too far below the choke valve in the primary bores of the carb, you can see them if you look in there and turn the throttle by hand
usually you can hear them squirt too
if iy sounds like air squirting though then it means rthe carb bowl doesnt have much fuel in it
the jets of fuel should be steady and one continuous stream
if not then something is wrong
bad accel pump or problem with the fuel line or weak old fuel pump or you need more fuel in the fuel tank lol
good luck
