Need a good combo on a budget
I'm about to carb my 350 engine thats basically just a stock tpi 350 without the actual tpi. I'm looking for suggestions on a good corb, cam, manifold combo...don't want too big of a cam this is a daily driver...and I'm using the stock tpi heads. So any good suggestions are appreciated I want atleast 300 hp if thats possible with the heads I know they're shitty.

Well, i have used TPI heads and made good power with them, GOD FORBID you ditch the roller setup, stick with a roller cam, somthing around 220/224 duration @.050 with 470ish lift. It will idle fine, you will be able to tell it has a cam in it, maybe a LT4 hot cam, but the lift might be too much for your stock springs. Use a Air gap intake with a Holley 5650 for more power with a mechanical secondary. If you want a lesser carb then get a Edelbrock AVS. I would just get a LT1 intake and have LT1intake.com mod ot for you and retain the EFI if possible.

You will also have to cut the top of the valve guides if the cam has more than .480" lift at the valve. New valve springs regardless.
Not sure what a Holley 5650 is. Performer AVS? Yuck! I can't see any Performer carb as 1st or 2nd choice for any combination.

Yea, i would never use a AVS personally, but it works for some, i guess it is simplified maybe? It was a suggestion because it works for some.

The Thunder AVS is at least better than the Performer.

Well, i just put my new air gap on my buddys car last night, he needs a low profile drop down air cleaner, it sits high. If that is an issue for you then get a non air gap performer.
