pic of my fuel line.i think its my problem

here is a pic of my fuel and regulator. i think it causing the car to run out of power after 1st gear. my own opinion is it causing it to starve for gas by not letting it keep the psi up.do yall agree or have anymore input? oh yea im using the stock tpi pump in the tank

Re: pic of my fuel line.i think its my problem

looks like a crappy regulator, what's your psi during a pull? You need to install a pressure guage to know if it's running out or not.

Re: pic of my fuel line.i think its my problem

thats not a bypass regulator... and you have a T in the fuel line connecting your supply line directly to your return line. im betting thats the problem you need to take out that t and install a bypass regulator in its place. right now all your fuel is going straight back to the tank.

I'd have to agree with ga, u should have a bypass style fuel regulator there like a mallory 3 port or something similar.

Re: pic of my fuel line.i think its my problem

could be causing it to run lean since your not getting enough fuel pressure...
i personally like the barry grant diafragm bypass regulator. its the one im using and keeps a constat 5 psi on my semi built 355.

yea i had a 91 firebird with a 305tbi... i pulled that out and put in a 355 vortec truck block with some p&p vortec heads airgap intake headers and a cam. runs good other than a bog from 4-5k but im blaming that on the carb.

Re: pic of my fuel line.i think its my problem

I agree that you're all hosed up (no pun intended) with that setup. You're bypassing the fuel back through the return line BEFORE it even gets to the regulator. Get a Mallory 3-port and THEN it will work properly (or at least better than it does now).

It doesn't matter how you tune it at this point. Out of fuel is out of fuel. You're bypassing a ton of fuel back to the tank when you need it most in the carb's float bowls- at WOT. At idle and light throttle it'll work becuase you need very little volume going to the carb. But at WOT you need a lot of fuel going to the carb and your current setup is "stealing" a lot of that volume by bypassing it straight back to the tank.

did you get that regulator at advance? like everyone else is saying you need the right regulator, one with a return port.

LOL holy crap, it is dumping straight back to the return. Never seen that one before. I can't believe that has enough fuel pressure to run at all.

Wish I could say the same.

A simple remedy would be to put a needle valve in the return line and shut it down until you maintain 4 psi at WOT.
