i have a 1984 camaro l69 with the stock carb and every time you start it smokes and dosent stop. I know its not oil or coolant and if you stick your head down by the exhaust you almost pass out from the fumes and i just check two of my plugs and they were both soaking wet with gas. It still runs pretty good and starts up fine anyone have an idea whats wrong?

Check your Mixture Control Solenoid. Its on the top of the carb, driver side and should have a 2 wire plug going into it.
Does it bog or hesitate at all on acceleration while driving?

Re: Quadrajet
Is the vacuum canister (choke pull-off) on the passenger/front of the carb working and properly adjusted? It keeps from flooding the motor by popping the choke open a smidge immediately after the engine is started. Once the motor has been running for a minute or so and the choke spring relaxes it has no effect, but for that first minute or so it's operation is critical.
After that I would ask about whether the choke is opening at all after a minute or two. Choke elements go bad (actuall the little heater in them goes bad) or the electrical supply to the choke can have problems. And mechanical binding/stickyness in the linkages can cause problems, too.
Various choke-related problems on QJets are fairly common, especially on old/stock carbs.
