400 horse fuel requirement?
hey, you guessed it, i have an over 400 horse 383 and its about to go in the car, I have no clue what i should do for fuel system.
here are my attack stategies.
1. I buy a proffesional product 30 doller regulator bypass style for efi to carb swaps
2. i get the holley blu pump and regulator kit for like 100 bucks
3. i go nuts with the braided fuel line, and full aeromotive stuff for like 1000, and do god knows what with the tank.
what is a legit, safe, track legal fuel system that wont break the bank.
and while im at it,, whats the safest way to wire the stock pump if i use it for carb?
ps- p.p intakes looked really good at first glance,,, till i mounted the carb and seen the barrells were shifted a half inch over!!

A bypass regulator with braided hoses would be the simplest and cheapest. You can use the existing fuel pump wiring through the oil pressure switch, adding a wire to power the pump while cranking if you like.

Aeroquip before Earl's, Earl's before Russell.
You can still use a mechanical oil pressure gauge, just leave the oil pressure sending unit/switch in place.

Re: 400 horse fuel requirement?
old one broke when i pulled out motor. should i just get another one, i like the idea of when engine is on fuel is on and vise versa tho
57kid- this was my cheap idea http://cgi.ebay.ca/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?...MEWA:IT&ih=008 and keep stock everything else.
im decideing upon braided line,, or even special hydrolic hose, being that i work at a parts store

Another pressure switch would be a good idea. It wouldn't have to be integrated with the gauge sender if you're going to use a mechanical gauge.
Seems like that regulator would do the trick. It's half the price of the popular alternatives.

I run the professional products regulator, its a really nice piece. That company has come a long way with there quality. That thing is more than $30, its more like $60. The ebay link is the procomp regulator, I wouldnt go with it, get the PP one cause if you have any problems they will make it right.

Not necessarily. Door #2 isn't a bad option, either. You'll have to drop the tank to remove the stock pump, though.
Big unknown is the condition of the stock pump. It may be okay now, but in a year or two might not continue to support the need. In that case, the popular Walbro 255 w/4309 is another option.
