A stock in-tank electric pump will put out a whole bunch more pressure than 6 psi.

You need a regulator made with a return. The Mallory 4309 is a typical and popular choice. The $20 regulators will not work for what you need - the electric pump needs to continuously flow fuel through it to keep it cool, and the cheap regulators just stop the flow. Dead heading the in-tank electric pump will burn it out.

Re: fuel preasure regulator

sorry this is on a mechanical fuel pump motor

the pump is stock

do you think I need a fuel preasure regulator to keep it under 6psi

Specifics are nice.

No, you don't need a regulator with an engine-mounted mechanical pump, but you do need to drop the fuel tank and remove the stock in-tank electric pump.
