carb intake question

i am swapping my 87 4bbl 305(Trans am) for a 89 TBI 350(from a truck). However, i was told that since i am adding a new cam and headers that i should ditch the TBI and get a carb. Will the intake from the 305 motor work on the 350? Im trying to save myself some money and since i already have the manifold i was hoping it would work. Also, should i even do a carb or should i just keep the TBI?

Re: carb intake question

yeah the stock motor was a qjet 305. the new motor is a TBI 350 from an 89 pickup truck. just wondering if i could use the 305's manifold so i dont have to buy a new one. i want to make the 350 a carbed motor.

Re: carb intake question

Should be a direct bolt on. The lo5 heads are a big restriction as is the stock lg4 exhaust imo those should be first 2 mods if you plan on any, don't make the mistake my brother did and cam and springs on stock swirlpot heads lol. Anyway do a search on here 305 to 350 swap and check the tech articals on the home page great info. off the top my head think just a 350 knock sen. is all thats needed since ccc is open loop

edit: good rule of thumb give it a day or 2 for response a lot of great info here in these guys and be specific in questions

Re: carb intake question

I really don't wan't to give mod advice as everyone has there own goals and such. I would give it a day or 2 let some others comment and do some research on here. I used a l98 long block and non cc setup just ported a set of vett alum heads i got a killer deal on. but remem dont build a killer motor on a stock t-5/700r4 10-bolt drivetrain first freak hookup could be bad but thats whole diffrent subject hope this helped alittle just my

a good moto i have seen since i was a kid is build a car from the ground up not motor back

Your 305 heads are better heads.

Better than the 350 heads? Would they work on the 350?
Or would it be better if i got some 350 heads off a camaro/firebird engine from ebay/junkyard?
