MCS question.

Does the mcs normally click only until the engine starts.I bought the rebuilt cc qjet from summit, and the mcs keeps clicking with the engine running. On my old carb,it did'nt seem to do this.I havent done any adjustments on the new carb yet. Thanks for any help.

Alicat.

If you turn the ignition on without starting the engine, the MCS will stop clicking after 20-30 seconds. If you start the engine after that, the MCS should start clicking again.

If your old carb didn't do that, that's a problem.

Re: MCS question.

Right; it will click continuously, while the engine is running, That's how the computer controls the mixture: it adjusts how much of the time the solenoid is operated, compared to how much of the time it's not operated. (Definition of "duty cycle") It switches back and forth about 7-8 times a second, varying the proportions of on time vs off time.

Re: MCS question.

Thanks guys, that seems to have solved that.I'm sure that the old one did'nt click when the engine was running, unless it was really quiet,as,i heard it on the new carb, running the car in the garage.Just have to test the tps voltage now.

Thanks again.
Alicat.

One thing i noticed on the new carb is when the mcs is clicking, with key on and engine off,the clicking is loud and then quiet and alternates between the two.
