I want to replace the quadrajet on my car with a holley. Does anyone know of a direct replacement so I can use the stock intake for now? Will get a new intake later for the new motor. The carb on there is a piece of junk. I'm taking off all the emission crap to. In Illinois anything older than 1995 no more emission tests. Also will i still need the computer if I rip all that crap out?

What are you trying to acomplish by removing this stuff? It won't gain you any ponies and will just cause you $$$. I have the CC Qjet system on my car and it roars, check the sig, even planning a blower it'll sit on top of.
Whats the problem, maybe we can fix it?

I agree with Trumps. Same thing here, pretty decent power, driveability, and economy. None would be better with anything else, and at least two would be worse.
The only "direct" aftermarket replacement (and it's only "direct" in that it will bolt to a stock manifold) is a Holley 6210 DP. If you remove the computer controlled carb, you need to replace the distributor as well; and if you have an automatic transmission, provide some means of locking up the torque converter.

You need to learn how to two foot the brake and gas. Bring up the RPM'S to about 1200 and floor it when you release the brake, you'll never bog off the line again.

I had a similar problem. It turned out to be a vacuum leak caused by my intake gaskets. Have you checked all the vacuum lines? I bought the assorted vacuum line caps from the auto parts store and capped off everything but the brake booster, pcv, and MAP sensor, just to check things out.

I'm going to be replaceing the motor with a 350 Do you guys think I should just leave all the emissions stuff on there? From what I here most of you say leave it on. I have already taken the belt off the air pump didn't seem to make a difference at all.

I've got a midly cammed 350 and retained the CCQjet, CAT, heated air filter assembly, and EVAP systems. In my opinion these systems make the car more driveable. It warms up faster, runs cleaner, and saves MPGs, without stealing much if any HP or adding any weight really.
The only one I ditched was the exhaust valve on the passenger that closed and forced exhaust through the intake. I thought it might be restrictive and I don't care about cold weather.
I plan on reinstalling the AIR pump and maybe even the EGR.

if you plan to replace the motor then change the cc carb set up at that point if you still want.for now have it rebuilt and it will work great.Had mine done 4 years ago,not a problem since.Infact once my 305 has had enough I will stick with this setup on a 350 with little tuning.they work great when tuned right.

1978? Last I heard it was 1975. But, still doesn't reach to 3rd gens. It's 25 years old in Colorado (but you have to get 5 year collector plates to be exempt from emissions inspection/testing).
The computer carb system is quite capable of handling a mildly built 350. As in the sig above.
If you have a bog off-idle and your accelerator pump is squirting, first make sure it is squirting immediately upon throttle movement. Then check your timing - zero degrees is the factory base setting, try increasing it to 6 BTDC and see if that helps. Make sure you disconnect the flat 4-wire connector going from the distributor base to the firewall harness before you check the timing.

Re: 1986 z28
why?.Not seen to many cc carb camaro/firebird owners who keep the set up when they re power.have any pics?Fact is if you have this set up and it runs great then fine.If you need to replace the motor and dont need to pass this in inspection then its much easier to leave all this stuff off and surely less to deal with and much more room.thats why
