We can seem to ge my car to start after the swap. We have gas and spark and the timinf should be with in a few degrees of 6. Is there somthing we over looked. Could it have somthing to do with the TV cable adjustment? The enging turns over bud thats it! Please help if you can!

Yes we checked that but a local guy said we needed to pull the ecm and replace it with a carbed ecm. What do you think> He said the computer may be telling the car not to start...The car ran befor the swap but was the TPI system had seen better days!

The TV cable doesn't have anything to do with the engine running.

If you have gas at the carb, and the engine turns over, the ECM doesn't have anything to do with what is keeping it from running.

Does it try at all? Does it backfire?

#1 cause of no start when the distributor has been out is distributor being 180 degrees out.

What is the longest you have had it run before?

If its at all some time, pull the plugs and see what they look like.

Re: Car Wont Start After TPI to Carb SWap

ok so basicly i did the same thing i have an 86 camaro with a 305. and i pulled it out and also pulled an engine out of a 88 tbi truck. i took the tbi 350 that i got out of the truck and put it into my camaro. got a hi rise intake and a edelbrock 750 cfm carberator and a non computer controlled distributor for my car. also i took the high output heads off the 305 tpi that was in my camaro and im using them. also bough those cloys double roller timing chain kit. now after ever things together i get spark and fuel but it wont start, first i thought maybe the timing was off so i market it and tried again all im getting is puff of gas and air shooting threw the carb so i know its getting spark cuz its like back firing but don't here any popping??? i know the timing chain is correct so i dont know whats wrong..maybe the distributor stll??? sometimes i couldn't get it exact cuz when i turned it the damn thing would go all the way down wtf??? idk someone please help this is my only ride to work and im tired of finding rides and walking.
