New Carb, what do I need for trans??
I just put a Holley 4bbl on my TA, and I was reading in another post something about a "painless kit" for the 700R4. Is this necessary? If so, what exactly is it and can it be fabricated at home? By the way, the car was computer controlled but now is not. I got the TV geometry bracket and the non CC HEI.
EDIT: The computer is still actually in the car, so could I just keep it hooked up to the transmission and not to the carb/distributor/etc?

Without the input from the carb and distributor, the ECM will not lock up the TCC.
Without TCC lock-out, you'll burn out your 3-4 clutch pack. People don't believe it, but it's true.
You can get the TCC to function without the Painless kit (or the other kits that are out there). Route the TCC solenoid ECM wire (the non-power one) to a single-pole, normally-open 4th gear pressure switch (you'll need a different switch than what's in the tranny now), it'll lock whenever you get into 4th gear. If you also route the power through a vacuum switch, you can adjust the switch to unlock the TCC when engine vacuum drops.
