Intake manifolds
Ok guys i got another question. I have a 86 and up chevy 350 and im going to put a earlier style manifold on. what setup did you guys use to get your manifolds to fit your heads? I was thinking of removing the 4 center bolt holes all together just cut them out so it would fit!what did you guys do?

Actually, it's '87-up.
Most people elongate the bolt holes in the intake manifold to get those bolts in.

Re: Intake manifolds

then i made custom angled washers/spacers to compensate for teh difference in the angles. Also, i used a heavy amount of rtv filling the hole and then installing the bolt into the hole(seal up guaranteed)
i had to do it when i dropped a set of 083 heads on my 327

Re: Intake manifolds
i think hes talking about making a manilfold similar to vortech heads that do not use 4 center bolts.......
buuuut from what ive seen the outer bolts on a vortech are spaced farther away so spread the clamping force out(ie the bolts closer to center are move toward where center bolts uised to be)

Re: Intake manifolds
If the center 4 intake bolts come out at the same angle as the outter bolts, they they will be fine. If they are straight up, unlike the outter bolts, thats when you can run into problems. BUT, you can just elongate the center 4 bolt holes on the manifold to make them work.
You do need to use those bolts though, or it won't seal properly, and you will get oil and/or vacuum leaks.

Re: Intake manifolds
Professional Products make intake manifoils that fits both pre and after '86 heads.
They have special washers/spacers to add if it's going on a pre '86 heads motor.
Vortec heads require another intake manifoil.
