Cleaning my Edelbrock?

Hey everyone, just wanted to know some good cleaning options for my carb. Can anyone recommend any particular types of cleaning solutions or any other suggestions? I need to start working on the engine and getting her cleaned up as much as I can without taken her out of the engine bay. Just let me know what you all think.

Meant to say cleaning solvents up there not solutions. I was in class when typing this thread so I really didn't have the time to think up the right words. Please let me know what you guys think I could use to clean her up. She looks pretty messy right now.

Only way to clean and Edelbrock that I know of is first loosen the bolts that attach the carb to the intake. Second remove the carb. Third place new carb gasket on the intake. The forth and final step throw the edelbrock in the garbage and replace with a new demon or holley. Its so easy you dont even get dirty.

But if you have to keep the Edelbrock just use some carb cleaner on it and you will be fine.

I really like your thinking, but since I don't have the money right now to do that last step, I"m going to have to stick with the edelbrock, at least until the summer. But since we're on the topic any suggestions on either the demon or holley carbs?

I like demon carbs myself so I say go for a demon. But basicly demon and holley are almost the same carb. So depending on your setup picking the acutal carb (CFM,double pumper,VS) is up in the air.

Re: Cleaning my Edelbrock?

Cool, thanks for the info. I'll have to start doing some research on it. This is my first project, so I"m just really getting into it. The one thing that does suck is that it isn't the original engine from the car. The guy I bought it from dropped a 350 from an older pick-up in her for more power. The power is nice, but it kinda sucks having to go back and forth on all the parts (from camaro to truck). Any suggestions on Intake Mainfolds? I know it depends on the set-up but what about different brands? Are some particular brands which are better than others?

I know you say its a truck motor but is it stock or does it have some good hi-performance parts on it ? More specs on the motor you have the better you can get help.

Re: Cleaning my Edelbrock?

Sorry it's taken me so long to reply. I don't think I can say that she does have really any 'good hi-performance' parts on her. I just know the guy put on a set of MagnaFlow headers, a FlowTech exhaust and an edelbrock carb. Everything else is stock on her. I need to run the numbers on the block to find out what exactly it came out of.
