cold air intake?

howdy TGO, First post, been lurkin for a bit

Anyway, I have an '85 TA, 305 w/ 4 barrel carb, All stock. I want to run a cold air intake on it, coax couple more HP outta this car. I saw the CAI kit for TBI's and TPI's, But can't find any for carbed models.

Would I be able to buy one of these, And pull the air cleaner and put on some kind of smaller one? I saw a picture on here a while back with something like this setup, but I can't find it at all.

Any help guys?

Just get a k&n extreme lid and a k&n air cleaner and you will be fine.

The stock air cleaner duct & scoop is in effect "cold air".

What kind of "4 barrel carb"? Stock q-jet? Look into a dual snorkel unit, or an aftermarket knock-off like ramairbox.com.

Xtreme lids just sit in the hood blanket. Even if they weren't in the blanket, they'd be sucking in heated underhood air, anyway. Don't do a lick of good on our cars unless you have a functioning cowl hood.

Re: cold air intake?

Use a TBI cold air set up. It'll work the same as a carb lid.

Or........
A friend used a carb hat on his TBI, hooked up to a TPI air filter set up. Cheap, easy & clean CAI! Just needs to paint it black or silver now.....
