Ground up project

Alright i hope you guys can help me. i have been a member on here for years but never really posted anything till now cuase im about ready to ACTUALLY begin my project. i picked up an 84 Trans am for free a few years back and its got a straight rust free body and no engine/trans. originally a 5.0HO 5spd. according to RPO codes it has 3.73 gears and disc brake rear. anyways though what i need help with is if i drop in a regular 383 motor do i need to worry about any computers and such? or will i have to run custom guages to aftermarket sensors to make everything work?

Re: Ground up project

If your not running a computer you need to figure out how to control the lock up on your tranny if your sticking with a 700r4. You dont need new gauges and sensors but new aftermarket ones will be alot more accurate. You also need to figure out what dizzy you will be running aftermarket vacum adv. or striahgt up mech.

Re: Ground up project

well the car was never an auto. it was a factory 5spd which of course will remain a manual trans car so i guess i dont have to worry about that. thanks for your help. i guess i just need to fab up custom guage panel to house some new guages and choose a disty which is easy enough.

No fabbing needed. I like most people got this.

Don't make this more difficult than it has to be. Just use the stock gauges, unless you want something other than the stock gauges.
