Car won't start - HELP

My intake gasket was shot, so I replaced it. Made note of where the distributor was, put it back in after the install in the same spot. I had the carb off and checked it out since the throttle was sticking. Fixed that issue, put it back on. Now, the car won't start. At first, the car started right up, but ran at a really high idle and started to stumble on itself when revved a bit. I figured I was off a tooth, so I adjusted. That made it worse, etc etc.

I reset to TDC, got the distributor and cap back on properly, all the wires in the proper location. But all the car does is crank. I have removed the fuel line from the carb and cranked to check for gas and there is gas being pumped in. What am I missing here?

Re: Car won't start - HELP

are you getting fire at the number one plug?

is the choke open on the carb?

do you have your power wire clipped into the distibutor tight?

when you put it on top dead center, was it the compression stroke and was the rotor button pointing to the number one plug? make sure it wasnt pointing to the center of the intake or the number three plug. has to point to number one, very important.
