problesm with 305 lg4/4bbl
So, more recenlty, ive been noticing my car having some problems once its warmed up. I think it has to do with my carb, more specifically my choke, but heres whats wrong.
Once my car gets warmed up, it will lose a drastic amount of power. So much infact, that when i try to give it some guts and go, it will almost studder, no matter how much gas i give it, it will just want to die.
Not sure if its related, but the other day (very hot day), i was sitting at the drive through for a little while, and when tried to leave, gave it some gas, and it just died. Smelled alot of gas. It took a while to turn over (like it has when the engine has been flooded out) So this more so confirms my thought of my carb flooding out, and it needing to be rebuilt/replaced.
As for that, the local places are charging about 250-350 for rebuilding a carb. I've priced a few from edelbrock, and their about the same, why not just get a whole new setup? ( my dad's rebuilt this carb before on his older cars, but neither of us really have the time to do it atm)
Maybe some suggestions on what else it could be? I've considered fuel pump, but it was replaced just 4-6k miles ago.
It's been doing this before my recent exhaust/intake upgrade as well. Problem didnt seem to intensify after the upgrades either.

When your car warms up get out and take the air filter off your carb and look and see if the choke is open or closed. If you really wanna rebuild this yourself you can a rebuild kit is only $20-30 and there are some really good write up stickies but if price is no issue then get a holley or an edel but keep in mind you'll need the intake too, or an adapter plate.

Could be the float is gas logged and not shutting the needle valve. so if you rebuild it make sure you replace it. some people overlook this as when they take it apart it dries out while sitting just a thought.
