Since your car is a 1988 model year, the only carburetor choice you have is a computer controlled q-jet system from an '88 Monte Carlo. No other carb is remotely emissions-legal.
so i cant throw on a performer series from edelbrock ?

Its physically possible, yes. It just won't pass emissions.
even if i get the intake manifold with the egr port ?

Aside from your emissions problems.. you will need to replace your computer controlled distributor with a vacuum distributor. And if your cam is a roller u will have to swap the distributor gear.

Only a closed-loop computer controlled carburetor and distributor is legal for use on your car, and since your car is a 1988 model, only a system from an '88 or later certified vehicle is legal.Originally Posted by Birdstheword909

You're begging for a butt kicking at emissions time. If you're up for that, go for it.
so i pretty much cant do anything to my car,,,,,,

Not with a carb, anyway.
dude..... that blows. not even if i had a 87 " wich was the last year gm used carbs" ?

If you had an '87, you could swap in a carb engine from another '87.
I don't know why you'd want to though, as you have 21 years of great engines to choose from.....

Only if its a billit core cam. Stock hyd roller cams dont require the bronze gear. Neither did my comp hyd roller.Originally Posted by 1qk4mula
