Re: Which Performer RPM intake do I use

Not sure what your asking. I just bought the Edelbrock performer for mine, supposed to be for idle to 5500. Rpm performer is for 1500 to 6500 I think. I still don't know a whole lot but I figure if yours is mostly stock the regular performer intake will work fine. Plus you can pick them up somewhat cheap on ebay. Got mine for $80 with shipping.

Non-vortec RPM Airgap with a dropbase air cleaner and a 2 1/2 in filter. Upgrade the cam/timing chain and valve springs while you are at it.

Dont forget the AFPR and some type of non CC dist.

Certainly non-Vortec.

The bad news is Edelbrock doesn't make an RPM for the '87-up intake bolt pattern. So, you'll have to elongate the center two intake mount bolt holes on each side.

Or, consider a Professional Products Crosswind intake (knock-off of the Performer RPM Air Gap). It has the bolt holes already elongated and angled bushings to correct the bolt head contact face.

So as long as I elongate the center two intake mount bolt holes I can get a performer intake from 55-86 and it will work fine? someone said something about the distributor hole being off, is this true?

Re: Which Performer RPM intake do I use

Hey everyone I thought I would let you know that I just bought a performer rpm intake off of ebay last night (amazing deal) and I am going to elongate the holes and put her on.

Does anyone know if I take out the computer and wiring harness if my gauges will still work? Also how do I set up the toggle switch for my trq convertor and when do I flip the switch? and why?

The gauges go through the bulkhead connectors on the driver side of the engine compartment.

There is a tech article linked from the thirdgen.org homepage about setting up the lock-up switch. You switch it on when you're cruising. It zeros out torque converter slip for better fuel economy. But, it also reduces heat in the transmission - cruising without it will burn up your 3-4 clutch pack.

Re: Which Performer RPM intake do I use

Quick question lets say you do a carb swap but leave the ecm and harness in (just unconnected at engine related stuff) will you still need the TCC lock up switch rigged?
