another demon question

anyone know how to adjust the secondary butterflies on a speed demon? im having a strange issue where if i close in the idle mixture screws all the way in on the secondaries get no change in idle. right now i have the primaries out 1 turn and the secondaries 1/4 turn the motor does run like a top though wit this setting.

i was reading where the primary transfer slot should be .020 and the secondary should be set to the bottom of the transfer slot.

Re: another demon question

You adjust the secondaries just like you do the primarys. All 4 idle screws should be equal, not 1 turn in the primary and 1/4 in the sec. You need to re adjust the screws to a base setting and adjust them all in 1/8 turn increments. You can either have the primarys and secondaries butter flies setup as you have read or they can both be .020 showing and thats not in stone you can still play with them a little to get the car to idle especailly if you have a big cam.

btw where in NY are you ?

Re: another demon question

didnt realize it was a vac secondary. Dont think you can adjust the sencondarys only how fast they open by changing the spring.

Re: another demon question

i was playing again with it last night and the best vaccum im getting is primaries out 1 turn and secondaries out 1/4 any more and she starts to shake and idle starts to drop off.

if i close off the rear screws completley and leave the fronts out 1 turn it still runs great lololol.

The secondary idle speed adjustment is on the passenger side.

Re: another demon question

Yes, the secondary adj screw is on the pass side. Take the carb off and you can see where that screw (allen head) makes contact with the throttle blade stop. I adj mine to the bottom of the slot. Try this if your running rich also. I set my 4 idle screw 3/4 out when i started (i cleaned the carb and checked the bowls for shavings). I adjusted them after to fatten up the mix.
