Quadrajet 850 leaking gas around carb
Hi Everyone,
I recently got a used Quadrajet carb from a guy.When I put it on
my engine,gas is leaking badly all round it.Is this from a stuck float or
something?

It could be. You put it on an already-carbureted car?

is it leaking from the bottom around? did you put a gasket under it, and if so, what kind of shape is the gasket in? could just be that. does the car have problems starting or does it just leak gas

What fuel pump are you using? Fuel pressure? Have you checked the float level?

sounds like the usual quadrajet problem, gaskets have been ruined from sitting to long. the rebuild kits are cheap and the instructions are decent to follow for even a novice.

I got it from a friend of mine.I spoke to him on the phone.He stated it sounds like the float.I sent it back to him,he is gonna look into it.It sounds like the float has some issues.

You still haven't said if the car was originally carbed or not. This matters because of the fuel pressure.
