Edelbrock 600 help

Just got carb- got it running decent. starts and runs normally when cold. but if i shut the car off and try to start it a few mins later (example: getting gas) it takes alot longer than normal to fire, and when it does fire, i get about 3-4 mins of extremely rough running. if i dont keep giving it a constant supply of fuel it will die. but then after a couple minutes POOF its gone. like it never happend, and the car starts running totally normal. please help! thanks in advance.

Re: Edelbrock 600 help

I have the same issue but I haven't figured it out yet. I think its too much pressure in the tank because when I take the gas line to the carb off it spews gas for about 45 seconds. And thats with the car off...and only after its been up to operating temp.

Re: Edelbrock 600 help

Do you have any kind of spacer under the carb?? Sounds like your getting to much heat transfer from intake to the carb, get a heat insulating gasket or a phelonic spacer. Check these out

I had the same exact problem, actually when i parked my car and shut it off i could hear gas bubbling inside the carb, WAY TO HOT!! Bought a Edelbrock Wood Spacer and poof!! all better!! Starts great now

I have this same exact problem with my Edelbrock 600. I may try this. Of course I've also got sticking throttle with it as well.

Re: Edelbrock 600 help

I may have found out something intresting today. When i open my gas cap i get a pretty significant "woosh" or sucking sound, gonna take a wild guess and say that its from pressure in the tank. so i put the cap back on but only threaded it a couple turns. car seemed to start without trouble for the couple times that i tried it. but it could just be coincidence, seeing as how my car WOULD fire up and run normal..but it was rare. So ill post soon with more results.

also, this is all going on at operating temp. thanks for everybodys input!

Re: Edelbrock 600 help

Yeah I tried that gas cap thing a few weeks back and it worked for me, too. Like I said a pressure release gas cap should do the trick.
