Fuel filter problem..'83 Z28
I'm having problems gettin my Z28 to start. It sits for weeks at a time and usually fires right up. I changed the fuel filter last October and ever since then, it takes a long time for the car to start up. Today I took everything apart and noticed the check valve on the filter was almost out of the filter.I set the check valve back to where it is supposed to be and the car started right up and ran fine for a few minutes. Can I take that check valve out or should I look for a filter from a different brand?

Are you talking about the filter inside the carb? I think you fixed the problem, but I do not recall seeing that before. Maybe you fixed it or maybe you could just buy a new one.
I just use a generic filter from Napa, seems to be fine.

Pretty sure I fixed the problem. I just wanted to give the car a couple days in case that was it. That check valve might be something that should be looked at real quick next time anyone else decides to change the filter on those cars.
