Replacing E4ME with M4ME/D?
What is the difference between an E4ME and an M4ME(D)?
While looking to rebuild my carburetor I stopped by a local rebuild shop and they told me that I could use this one. I took the number off the side of the carb and it was 17085227, which from what I can tell is an M4ME or M4MED? Is there a problem with replacing my computer controlled electric carb with this one?

as the article should state... you will need to change your distributor from an electronically controlled to a vacuum controlled unit, otherwise performance will suffer as well as everything else... you will need to install a standalone TCC lock up switch... you basically need to bypass everything that is electronically controlled by the ECM...

The first letter: "E" means it's electronic control, "M" means manual. The last letter means electric choke.
http://www.carburetion.com/Number/bynumber.asp "85-87 Chev/GMC/Truck BOP Grey Sol." "Grey solenoid" means it is the dual volume accelerator pump, which is a M4ME type. It won't have the TPS connector, and is not the proper carb to replace yours.
