thread sealer

What kind of thread sealer(that won't eventually leach) can I use from my fuel line where it screws into my carb? It is all new and shouldn't leak, none the less,it does. Thanks

What type of carb? Exactly where is it leaking?

Re: thread sealer

It is on a Holley 4160 and I have resolved the issue by smoothing out the flare fitting. Leak has abated. Thanks for the inquiry.

Re: thread sealer

Just to keep this going, what are some good thread sealers that are compatible with gasoline? Teflon tape is the only one I really know of that won't eventually degrade because of it.

Just looking for something better for my mallory AFPR, has a slow slow leak around the plugs that is driving me crazy

Re: thread sealer

the white teflon will still eventually degrade its better to use the yellow teflon for gas piping in houses.(IE stoves, heaters, water heaters, etc.)
the white stuff is UL rated for water only, the yellow is UL listed for Petroleum products.

Re: thread sealer

ACE sells thread sealant compound in a tube, safe for gasoline, works like a charm.

The reason I asked is thread sealer is inappropriate for most carb fittings.

Glad you got it fixed.
