Flooding?
Flooding?
So heres the deal, I recently did an engine swap from a old beat 305 to a 305 from a 91 camaro with the roller cam. Since they took the lobe of the cam for a mechanical fuel pump i had to run an in line electric pump. The car runs great except for one small problem, when i come to an idle at a stop sign or light the car seems to be flooding it self out, i can smell gas inside the car and it dies and wont start for 5-10 minutes afterwards. I was thinking my fuel pressure may be to high the pump i got was rated for 9 to 14 psi. The haynes book said for a carbureted 87 firebird the psi should be 8 to 13 i believe. Which is why i went with suck a strong pump. My carb is a quadrajet recently rebuilt by a guy who knows them well so u dint believe that is the problem. when i am on the gas the car runs great. Any help would be appreciated think i should try an inline regulator to lower the psi.

Re: Flooding?
Anything over 6psi kills a carb. Think I read the quads like less pressure than the Edelbrocks, and they require under 6psi. Get that pressure down to under 6psi.
