i just called summit and they said none of these will fit cause of my 1406 electric choke, and said my choice is either flat base or the edelbrock cleaner designed for my carb http://www.summitracing.com/parts/EDL-1221/ but it has a 3" filter lol

Re: Which one of these air cleaners will fit?

I run a Spectre 9in - the 14's always rubbed a plug wire on the distributor, and the drop bases all require a 1/2 in spacer to clear the choke and linkage. This spacer is plastic (no one makes it in anything else) and it cracks from the heat. Plus the spacer never really lined up right, and so there was always an air leak around it. The 3in filters were too much, and so I had to run a 2in filter. Plus I noticed with the drop-base cleaners and the 2 inch filter I was only really getting maybe 1/2 in of clearance inside the element for the air.

The Spectre is on the shelf at autozone for $29 with a rechargeable filter. Like I said it's 9in instead of 14, so it doesn't touch any plug wires on dist. It actually has about a 3/16 rise to it above the carb seat. It comes with a 2in filter, but since it doesn't drop, I'm now getting 2 full inches of airflow. The top lid is slightly cone shaped as they all are - so that it clears the hood I drilled a hole in a 2x4, put a long bolt through the wood and the air cleaner assembly, and tightened it down. This put even pressure all around so as to bend the lid in the center downwards and reshape the metal lid so it was flat. Then I installed and have no clearance issues at all.

I have that edelbrock air cleaner, I hate it. I'd outright give you mine if I can get something else to fit lol. Before I installed an adapter for the Demon carb, with the holly carb I could fit the edelbrock elite cleaner under the hood.
