I got a TBI 305 right now, in a few months I will be switching to a carbed 383. Can I do my carb swap now? As in, can I buy the carb that will go on my 383 (probably a 650 or 750) and a manifold to match and slap it on my 305 now? (new non-electric dizzy and fuel regulator of course)
I got the cash for it now, and would love to be fully off of the ECM before I put the new engine in.
Thanks for any info!

Personally, I wouldn't. The carb that would be right for the 383 would be too big for the 305, and the tuning for the 305 wouldn't be right for the 383.
There's a high likelihood that your 383 heads will have the "old" intake mount bolt pattern while your 305 has the center two mount bolts on each side at 72 degrees instead of 90 degrees like the rest.
