Re: Demon Carbs

They're piles of crap, stay away and get yourself an Edelbrock.

The one I'm running is great, you just have to remember you can't just bolt on the thing and expect it to work perfect out of the box. Takes time and extra parts to get them dialed in, same with Holley or any universal carb.

Re: Demon Carbs

Make sure you pick out the right carb for your application. Call and talk to a rep and tell them your combo or go here http://www.barrygrant.com/demon/default.aspx?page=5 and look at there selection guide to get a general idea of what you need.

lol sorry... I personally think they're a pretty nice carb and after looking at a lot of engine pics of some pretty quick drag cars, they're more popular than I thought. On this site they seem to get a bad rep but on others, not so much. If you can sit down, have the patience and the time to tune a carb, it'll be great. I've had a Speed Demon, Mighty Demon and currently run a Race Demon that I bought off of ebay for under 300 bucks. Yes, the brand new ones had metal shavings but that's easily cleaned out. No matter if you buy new or used, make sure everything is fine before bolting the carb on your engine.

Re: Demon Carbs

quick fuel, pro systems, or holley HP would get the nod from me. I had to clean out several demon carbs years ago because there was metal shavings inside everywhere, now I typically pick the other ones listed.

Re: Demon Carbs

i have one on my sons 78 trans am that i built for him 18years ago and it has always worked great, has never been apart except to replace front bowl gasket from sitting more than it is driven and it feeds a 680 cubic inch olds motor, its a 850,it was agrovigating to get diled in as much as i can remember but has been great since, stay with the holley as its easier and cheaper to get jets and etc. for and almost all parts stores carry parts for them.jplp

Re: Demon Carbs

All service parts and jets are compatible between Holley and Demon carbs. One wouldn't be cheaper or easier to find parts for.
