Buying Carb Setup

First off I have read the tech article on swapping from TBI to carb, but just want to double check that I'm buying the correct stuff before I drop the money. Any input would also be greatly appreciated. I'm not building a race car here, but want good performance.

Re: Buying Carb Setup

Is this an automatic or manual tranny car?

If auto, you'll need a method for locking the torque converter, and a TV cable geometry corrector for the carb linkage.

There's many other little things you need - fuel injection hose in 5/16 and 3/8, hose barbs in 5/16 and 3/8, etc.

Don't know the specs of that Summit intake, but it's a spreadbore rather than squarebore - might not make any difference, but I've always just looked to squarebore. And I just always heard great things about the Edelbrock Performer RPM or Air Gap RPM, I have one (the Performer RPM), and so I just always recommend it.

And, I just don't like buying "kits" - always end up with something that won't work - like that air cleaner assembly included in there - it won't clear the stock hood and so you'll need another one anyway.

But you've got the basics correct ... 600cfm carb, Mallory fp reg, new intake.

No need for head gaskets in that list unless you are changing heads. Same with valve cover gaskets, no need unless you are removing valve covers for some reason. And stuff like that is just down the street at local autoparts store anyway.

Like the Accel distributor - that same distributor is on the shelf at Autozone for $125. Internet isn't always the best cheapest place to buy. I'd take my shopping list to Autozone, and get the manager to price you special order on your items - they can order anything, shipping is free to the store, arrives in 48 hours, and there's a no-hassle return!
