Need help keeping engine running

Hello. It's a 350 sbc with a stock computer controlled quadrajet.

I have my engine on a stand and when I was trying to turn it over I got it to run for about 1 second then it just died. I have gas being pumped by the fuel pump. and I poured in (maybe too much) gasoline through the butteryfly part of the carb. Does this sound like it flooded?

And the next time I try this, should I let the fuel pump do all the work or should I try moving the throttle a couple times?

I also don't have any vaccum lines hooked up, is this a problem?

No vacuum lines is a problem - ALOT of vacuum leaks means too much air not enough fuel in the A/F ratio.

No computer controls on the distributor means no timing advance or retard, so timing is way off.

No computer controls on the carb means no control over fuel mixture.

UNLESS you ahve the entire computer system conected, along with the electronic spark module, O2, etc. - your not going to be able to run the motor on a stand.

Ah, that makes sense, forgot about that. Thanks for the info.
