Opinions on carb selection..
I am looking at getting a Holley carb. I am still kind of new to carbs but from the reading I have done I feel most comfortable attempting to work with a Holley carb. My question to you all is, which carb model do you suggest?
Car is never raced so all out power is not the goal. Engine is stock 350 of the 80s variety but will be getting a cam swap at some point next winter. I drive this car once in awhile to work or around town on my day off.
Any suggestions?

Re: Opinions on carb selection..
Yeah - an Edelbrock.
If your not a "carb guy", the Edelbrocks are much much easier to deal with. 99% of them just take out of the box and stick it on, no tuning required. I personally have little experience with Holley for that same reason - I want it simple, and you can;t get any simpler than an Edelbrock. Some folks state that their Holley's need retuned alot, adjusted periodically, etc. I put my Edelbrock on 4 years ago, and haven't touched it since (except for a little idle readjustment after some minor timing changes).
600cfm is your carb, whatever brand. Smaller too small, larger to large. In an Edelbrock, can't go wrong with a 1406 model - "plug & play".

Re: Opinions on carb selection..
I want to get a Holley because I feel most comfortable in my ability to be able to tune it. I have a quadrajet now which needs to be rebuilt. After reviewing some reading materials about how to rebuild various carbs I feel the Holley unit will be best for me. I would have liked to have kept the QJet but it seems fairly complicated and I cannot find anybody who can/willing to fix it either.

Send the carb to Jet, or half a dozen other reputable rebuilders.

There are plenty of reputable places to get a Qjet rebuilt. If you told us what the problem you're having, we might be able to help you fix what you already have. For your application, a Qjet is the best choice IMO. If you're set on a Holly, then I'm sure someone will chime in with a recomendation.
