Rough running l69...Possibly MCS?
So I just got my 84 Trans am running for the first time in 3 years and I am having a few idle problems with the E4ME. When I first start the car it will run fine for about 30 seconds and then shortly afterwords kill itself... I can stab the gas a few times and it will go back to normal but will kill keep killing itself until it is completely warmed up. It also has a bad stutter/bog when given throttle at idle. Today I tried unplugging the MCS and the rpms increased and it seemed like it ran perfect.... Is the MCS bad?
Btw I just did a full tune-up which includes:
plugs and plug wires
New msd dizzy cap and rotor
New Coil
New oil/filter
Air filter

float level or jets plugged from scuz of sitting unused
for 3 yrs.

Anybody know where I can get a manufactured E4ME for a good price?

no need for a new carb(that could be the wrong one or
wrong calibration)-original carb just needs partly
dissasembled and cleaned, probably just the top
removed for the cleaning
If done right won't even
need new gaskets-just don't overtighten the screws
going back together.

wouldn't hurt to try a new one-just be sure it is the
correct one with the correct jets, metering rods, etc.

Re: Rough running l69...Possibly MCS?
You said something about going fast... if your carb doesn't already have them then get some secondary DR rods and a G hanger. Check out this site: Just saw it so haven't ordered from them but the prices looks very fair. If you run a s set of CKs with K hanger that will IMO provide some good performance response but keep it kinda tame. When compared to DRs and G the CK and K might drive you crazy!

Ok new carb... Still does not run right. With the mcs plugged in the engine will still kill itself at idle and the car does not want to rev either. With the mcs unplugged the car will run pretty well but throw an engine light.
The new carb came with all new sensors so anything with the carb can be ruled out.

Re: Rough running l69...Possibly MCS?
It could be the new carb is out of calibration. You'll need to do the adjustments on the idle mixtures screws and the lean and rich stops. Then with a dwell meter you'll need to check if the MCS is in the right spot by fine tuning the IAC. I had to do the same things when I got the new CC Qjet for my car. Ran like crap before I did this, afterwords it ran smooth.

Well new symptom... The car used 10 gallons of gas only going about 25-30 miles...
