305 head ?
hey guys building a 305 and i have reached a debating point that i need your help on.
and the problem is are 1.94 valves worth instaling on a 305 or should you stay with the 1.84 ?
anybody have good data that can prove this fact ?
it is said they shroud to much in the bore. i can't is that it's not that big of a valve.
any help on this would be great thanks guys.

Re: 305 head ?
1.94" valves are very worth the money. They are the biggest valves you want to go with on a 305. No reason to stick with the 1.84" valves. Check out my build thread under the member's section for pictures (see sig).
There are a few threads about 416 flow numbers, just do a search.

Re: 305 head ?
The general consensus is that the 1.94 is as big as you would want to go. The guy at the machine shop that did my valve work recommended a 1.94 valve for the 305. His knowledge was very extensive regarding the 305 heads.
I wouldn't have increased the intake valves if I thought there would be a negative consequence. Besides, Trick Flows 305 heads are 1.94

Re: 305 head ?
2.02 shroud the bore... 1.94 will work perfectly... I would also be looking at a 3 or 5 angle valve job and getting them back cut to increase more flow.

Re: 305 head ?
Makaveli,
Just a friendly suggestion. My valves are actually Summit Brand SS valves that are swirl polished and back cut. Myself and the building assembling the heads were very pleased with them (I was very happy with the price).
Summit valves are rebranded Mallory. Very dependable.

Re: 305 head ?
the heads i am trying to do the work on. i was told that 1.94 where instaled. if so i will use the stock ones and if they are only 1.84's i will get a set of SS ones.
