Low profile cold air intakes for carbs?

I haven't quite finished my intake swap yet, but I'm pretty sure I'm going to have clearance issues with my current edelbrock open air element. I had a 2 1/2" filter on it with my old intake, and that barely cleared. I don't think I'd clear even if I went to a 2" filter now, and I wouldn't want to go any smaller than that.

So I was wondering if anyone had some suggestions on a low profile cold air intake setup? I looked at a few including a spectra at advance that looked nice. But the problem with the spectre at advance was it stuck the filters out directly over my headers. Seems like it would be sucking up a lot of hot air from the headers with that kind of set up? What would really be ideal I think is for the filters to be position up to either side of the radiator. Either that or poking down under the car, which I'm not sure if that would work out to well. Would probably cause the filters to get dirty and clogged really fast.

This is the diffences in the intake height to give you an idea of what my clearance is going to be:

Excuse the towels covering my valves hehe, didn't get finished before dark and just covered them up to keep trash out.

And this is the similar to the spectre kit I was talking about at advance that kind of gave me the idea:

Edit:
Here is the exact kit at advance:

It looks like the same one that I linked from summit, so not sure why summit's costs more. The part numbers are the same as well. But I was looking, advance also sales the couplers and a 90 degree 4" boot, I'm thinking I might could get those and add on to this kit to turn the filters and point them to the front of the engine bay out past the headers?

The cost of it adds up though, 125 for the main kit, then 40 for two 90 degree elbows, and 20 for two more couplers. Plus 60 for two filters. Gets kind of expensive $245 total for it =/.

Also just saw this one:

Which is even lower profile at only 2.6" clearance required. But the arms of it bend down putting the filters and pipes even closer to the headers.

Can't see how they can claim for it to be a "cold air intake" putting stuff so close to what is probably the hottest part of the engine bay =/

Because "cold air intake" is a selling key phrase. You could always add piping and route it to a place that would actually feed cold air to the motor.

Im not sure about the low profile designs you are mentioning, but for the low profile single inlet carb hats spectre has, there is very little clearence above the choke tower to the top of the carb hat on a holley. It cant flow very well unless you have the horn milled down.

Since it appears you are running a Q-jet, you should have more area up top for flow.

Just something to look at.
