I wonder if you could use one of those carb hats w/ a "cold air" intake style system...

I was thinking of the drop base too... The only problem I see w/ that is the throttle linkage might get in the way...

Re: Will this fit under my hood???

i just dont run one, mine isnt a daily driver so im not worried about it.

you could always use one of those super thin ones that are like an inch tall. but i always thought they would hurt airflow due to how small they were like 6 or 8" diameter if that

Re: Will this fit under my hood???

I think K&N makes a small one but not 100% on it... Mine will be a DD and I unfortunately have to take dirt roads on occasion... Ahh the joys of livin in Bama son lol... I've got a few of the drop base air cleaners so imma try that and see how she blows (or sucks, ur choice)... When I get it on the dyno, I'll post up the difference between air filter and no air filter just bc now I'm curious to how it will actually proform

Re: Will this fit under my hood???

You could probably use an air filter for a boat to keep the big stuff out.

Re: Will this fit under my hood???

I didnt think about that... and I can put a foam filter around it... I'll pull the one off of my dads 383 in his boat to see what kind of clearance there is!

Re: Will this fit under my hood???

I've got a drop base on mine dude. Exacty the same setup. Not sure if that vic jr is taller the my rpm air gap or not...we could measure.

As mine sits, it rubs ever so slightly on the nuts for the louvers.

Re: Will this fit under my hood???

i believe the edelbrock foam triangle ones are relatively low profile with alot of surface area. not the best filter ever, but better than nothing. heres a link to what im talking about.

Tried one. Far to tall. They are taller then the Spectra filter I run now.

Nothing might be better, actually.

Why not just get a cowl hood?
