How much does a carb spacer do?
Hey im considering doing a carb spacer on my mostly stock lg4 87. How much performance gain will i get from this?

bahaha probably pretty minimal, it can keep the carb cooler if you go with a non metal one and lets the fuel atomize with the air better from what ive been told

Really that much? I was expecting much less (mabye 40 hp and 30tq). I guess the intake will be much bigger and the heads free'r but exauhst and cam will still be stock. Figured that would hold back any real hp numbers

Actually, probably do more harm than good... unless of course you get one of those stckers for your windshield that says "Firebird" to help everybody that REALLY CARES what kind of car it is but doesn't know what a Firebird looks like... I heard last Friday night in the McDonalds parking lot, that one of my friends' classmate's cousin's co-worker's wife's uncle's brother's sister-in-law's husband's friend, added like 75 HP and 100 ft-lbs when he put on both the spacer AND the sticker.

A carb spacer will give you a higher RPM, not really power or tourqe... But these cars are designed for lower RPM power not high RPM

its going to make ur carb sit higher..... i only use mine to adjust how far i want the carb sticking out of the hood. stack like 6 of em together and make a ghetto tunnel ram lol

Alot of BS here.... Carb spacer can do harm, but they can also work wonders. If your engine needs the air the extra plenum volume supplied by the carb spacer can work wonders. On my 383 with a performer RPM I picked up 9HP and 11 ft lb's of tq all from a simple open 1" spacer(dyno proven) On a stock 305, you will probaly see minimal gains.

Hey now were talking. Sadly that carb spacer costs abit more, and doesnt include a bottle. But I do bet they come with a sticker!

Dont do anything til you get the right sized exhaust/ headers on there.
May even need to jet up some
Spacer is a tuning aid imo
To make any change now you wouldnt know what you did really
