Engine: 5.0 lg4 carb
Transmission: 700r4 auto
Axle/Gears: 2.73
Secondaries opening lg4
How do I know if my secondaries are opening. When I mash it WOT it doesn't seem to go that well. It's bone stock with cat back lg4..
New engine going in this winter but want to know what's going on with this one..

Get the engine fully warmed up. Then hold the air valves at the top of the secondary bores open with yuor finger and look down through to the secondary-side throttle plates at the bottom. Open the throttle fully with your other hand. Do they open? Then they're opening.
The only thing that can really prevent them from opening (except one that's sat outside and the throttle shafts are rusted shut) is the secondary throttle lockout arm. It is part of the choke system and prevents the secondary throttles from opening unless the choke is FULLY open (you can see it down near the baseplate on the passenger side of the carb just in front of the secondary throttle shaft).
So, basically, if the choke isn't getting fully open your secondaries aren't going to be openign either.
