Just bought an 86 IROC Z after losing my 85 2.8 camaro with an original tpi 305 but someone switched it to the edlebrock 1406 carb and left the tuned port wiring harness and ecm in the car. Besides the point im not looking to revert back to tpi i want to keep the carb. Off my other camaro i saved the tpi ram air box to use on this IROC, now is there anyway to build off this box to clear the fan temporarily or will i need to convert to an electric fan first?

 

I would think you'd want to get rid of that totally incorrect and dangerous-looking mechanical fan just on general principle anyway! Yes, it would certainly have to be removed if you were to stand any chance of fitting a TPI-style intake system up to the carb.
