'88 L03 TBI conversion to Electronic Quadrajet possible
Anyone know what computer or rewiring would be needed to use a feedback Quadrajet in stead of the factory TBI for a street/"performance" moderate 400sbc engine swap?
Reason being, lack of air air flow w/TBI, EBL, Moates etc. cost & learning curve to make the TBI do something equivalent to a 750 QJet.
Emissions not a factor. I know technologically this is a slight step backwards getting rid of the Toilet Bowl on the L03, but an electronic Qjet could satisfy maybe, in a simple way the needed air & fuel required.
Thanks

Possible, yes.
The computer harness should be changed in its entirety. Are you keeping the T5? Part of the computer harness goes to the transmission.
One issue may be the fuel pump. Most carb ECMs didn't interface with an electric in-tank fuel pump. Some L69's and the '87 LG4's did. If you keep the in-tank electric and somehow get it to turn on, you'll need a return-type pressure regulator to bring the pressure down to a carb-friendly 4-6 psi.
The TBI radiator fan should operate the same way the carb'd electric radiator fan models did. So, no problem there.
Not all factory carbs had knock sensor capability. All L69's did, and '85-'87 LG4 did. So, if you want to maintain that capability, you'll need a system of one of those types.
The '87 carb system used the same distributor as your '88 TBI.
I think I'm convincing myself you should try to find a complete '87 computer carb system...

Hey five7,
Thanks for the help. Probably a complete L69 harness would work. I think what I'm finding is that, all the JY's in my area don't have anything like third gens left.
Maybe just a #4309 and a non-computer HEI with a standard Qjet would have to do.
