I wouldn't get the carter pumps
I went though a few of them myself since they either broke or gave up on me

I wouldn't know what to recommend sice I'm running a autozone one to get from a to b for now

I am leaning toward these two pumps,

Nothing wrong with replacing it with an OEM style pump and you will still have the bypass system still hooked up. This allows the excess full to return to the tank instead of sitting in the fuel lines soaking heat up from the motor.

The Holley pump you have linked is what I have on my 86 T/A. Mostly for looks and it has worked really well since 2004 when I installed it but I have only put 12K miles on the car since then too.

A fuel pump is only going to help performance if the current pump is not delivering enough fuel to keep the bowls at the proper level and/or by not putting a load on the motor.

I just figured the pump on the Motor is from the original 305 and is at least 20 Years old since I never replaced it. It has sat a lot for the past 8 Years. Is it a problem not having the return hooked up?

Using the Holley or Carter pumps without the return will work but you have to seal off the return line if you do this.

With it sitting for so long I bet the diaphragm has gotten hard. I'd replace it as well

The Carter M6626 gave me zero problems running it for 5 years (up to the time the LS1 went in the car). It has the return. Good pump for a decent price, IMO.
