painted my carb!

So rather than buy a new carb I decided to use the one on my dads wrecked vette. Its a holly 650 dual feed. Carb was pretty rough when I pulled it off.

Tore it apart and sent it to get cleaned in a ultra sonic bath. Clean as a whistle but the dark oxidization remained..

Decided I expected too much and I wasn't gonna spend 20 plus hours polishing it. So i decided to paint it black.

Very happy with the results!

Thoughts???

Re: painted my carb!

Thanks. I think generally people are under the assumption that the paint will flake off and that gas will eat it. I figure engine enamal that's designed to stay put and be resistant to gas and oil should hold up. Only time will tell tho.

I was kinda thinking the same thing..if you are leaking gas from your carb, a bit of messed up paint is the least of your worries.
