Seafoam use?

Hey guys. This might be a stupid question.. But how do I use seafoam? My oil pressure is really high so I'm going to use seafoam to see if I can't loosen the oil and I will do an oil change after I use it.. But how do I go about using it?

Re: Seafoam use?

First off...how high is too high? My car starts at about 60 and as it warms up goes down to 35-40 while cruising, 30 at idle. I run 10-30 Rotella oil in it.

Re: Seafoam use?

It's constantly around 60, even at NOT.. Except when I floor it and let off the gas, it blips down to around 30 and then shoots back up.

Re: Seafoam use?

yeah, sounds like your gauge is off, the factory gauges are known to be all over the place

but to answer your seafoam question, suck it in through a vacuum port, pour some in the gas tank and add some to your oil

sucking it through a vacuum port will stall the engine if you give it too much so go slow

Re: Seafoam use?

Could be your sender unit too. My gauge would peg high and sometimes jump erratically.
Replaced the sender unit and it fixed it.

Where is the sender located at? I could hopefully buy the part pretty cheap and maybe fix it?

Probably by the distributor or the oil filter

Re: Seafoam use?

seafoam will do little if anything for your oil press. problem . your problem is the oil press. sensor . easy to change , located just above the oil filter . you said you had a 5.7 vortec engine . who did the swap ? has it ever read normal ? my guess would be sensor bad or not even hooked up or installed . good luck .

Agreed. Also make sure you use the correct sending unit for the gauge you are using. If you car was originally a v6, use the v6 sending unit if you have the v6 gauges.

Re: Seafoam use?

The swap was done before I bought the car. It had a v8 in it before, I do know that. I never checked when I first got the car, but about 20 miles of driving, a SES light came on and I am unsure as to what that is from.. But I will check this weekend if the sender is connected or not. I will let you know if you guys are ok with that.. If I have any more trouble. Haha
