should i run the 1406 eddy or he 670 avenger

First off let me start off by saying I love this forum and I am totally open to opinions that's obviously why I am here. So I am currently running the edelbrock 1406 on my engine. I have had a lot of tuning issues with it. I have changed everything from spring to roads acceleration pumps and jets. The Carb performs great on idle and cruise but its the wot that kills me. I have very noticeable bog through wot transition. There seem to be no cure for if. I have a 670 street avenger in the barn that I have rebuilt and went through with a fine tooth comb. It is in perfect condition. So the question stands which one would be best for me??? Also I was origanlly running the 670 and switched yo.the 1406 because of what I thought was a junk 670 which infraction after multiple rebuilds on the 670 and no result lead me to find all my problems was in the tank. The tank was full of rust and gunk from the car sitting for years! So I put a new fuel tank in a good pick up unit and all new filters and lines. Problem solved on fuel. So with running issues I now need to either go back to the 670 which I never got to see run with the new fuel system or stay with the 1406. Finally here's the engine/drivetrain info 355 SBC, 10:1 compression, 906 heads 1.94/1.5 valves, flat top pistons, 1.6 full roller rockers, comp extreme energy 262 cam, 700r4 shift kit, 308 9 bolt rear end. Thanks for all the input much appreciated! !!!

Either one will work well after being properly tuned. If you feel you can tune the holley better go that way.

I have the exact same wot bogging issue with my Edelbrock 1806 carb. Still haven't gotten rid of it after adjusting all the various circuits. I would swap out to a Holley in a heartbeat if I had one.

fuel delivery problem. either not enough pressure or volume . you get enough ordinarily but not enough for WOT operation

someone who knows eldelbrocks could probably make it work properly, but if you have both i would use the holley, they seem easier to me to tune. if you had the same issue with the holley you would just go up some jets and see if it helps. the tuning sticky in this section is pretty helpful too

Sounds like you're good on the primary circuit side but are having problems with the secondary circuit.

Get everything tuned for the primary circuit first, part throttle and cruising. Then work with the ~65% and greater throttle position which is getting into your secondary tuning.

Check this out from page 6 on--> http://www.edelbrock.com/automotive_...404_manual.pdf

***EDIT*** I just noticed that the Edel carb is a 600 which could mean that it was jetted from the factory on the small (lean) side for your application.

Usually for people that have the 1406 I suggest using the 1405 jetting as a starting point.
