Hood clearance help.

http://www.ebay.com/itm/SBC-CHEVY-Polished-Dual-Plane-Air-Gap-Aluminum-High-Rise-Intake-Manifold-/390721609504?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&hash=item5af8d29f20&vxp=mtr
With this intake manifold could i keep the stock hood or would i also have to get a cowl hood?

Re: Hood clearance help.

Almost definitely a cowl hood. My intake is slightly higher than that one and it in no way clears a stock hood.

Cool, 2" should give plenty of space.

Re: Hood clearance help.

Air Gap + 3" filter and a small 1" phenolic spacer under my stock IROC hood. Its all in purchasing the correct drop base for the filter. I like the reproduction L88 corvette piece because it clears the HEI and the Holley throttle linkage.

Re: Hood clearance help.

Do some searching, there are plenty of people that have fitted one under a stock hood. I have one plus a nitrous plate under mine.

Mr. Gasket Low Rider Air Cleaner….heck of a lot cheaper than a cowl hood…but the cowl hood will look better!
