Carb rebuild....Where does this part go????

Hey guys. I'm rebuilding my quad carb and I'm ready to reassemble.....I can't find this part in any picture, parts fische, or third gen post. Where does it go????? I don't want to get it back together and find that it's in the deepest cravity of the carb. Thanks for your help. MattCarb rebuild....Where does this part go????-dscf8071-640x480-.jpg

Behind the choke bowl, in the hole where it gets vacuum from... it's a seal

Re: Carb rebuild....Where does this part go????

Thanks sofa king.....you saved me again. I hate that feeling when you see that part laying on the bench and wonder if it's a part you need or something random that the kids left on the table out of one of their airsoft guns or something stupid like that.
Your the man!!! On a side note... I started to reassemble the carb last night and noticed that my secondaires wouldn't open as needed. Looking closer the gasket was partway into the opening. Do you find it common to need to trim them to fit. This was a napa part specific for my carb. We used the stamped number on the carb to order it, so I know that it's for my carb, but wasn't too happy when I noticed that. I was going to mark it and trim it with an exacto knife and possibly a dremel tool. What do you think? Thanks Matt

Re: Carb rebuild....Where does this part go????

Your carb may or may not use it; can't tell whether it came out of it, or whether it was in the "kit".

If it belongs there, then when you remove the choke bowl, one of the holes on the bottom where it fits against the fuel bowl casting will have a bored-out place for it to go down into.

Part # 360 in this dwg.

Yes it is common for the gasket to need a bit of trimming. Not a big deal. I usually put em together and do it w a razor blade. (xacto knife)

Re: Carb rebuild....Where does this part go????

Well, if I'm looking at this fische correctly, it goes behind the choke assembly. I didn't pull the choke out, I did pull the electric choke coil out, but I didn't pull the housing or the linkages. Left well enough alone, I figured. Just trying to fix the pit wells and clear out all the passageways if possible. So it looks as if I'm safe. Let me know if that sounds right to you? Thanks again for the help. Matt

Re: Carb rebuild....Where does this part go????

I was reading on the site on a E4ME rebuild page. Is this the plastic aneroid cavity insert? It said that it is sometimes used and that it is located under the float bowl solenoid connector?????

Re: Carb rebuild....Where does this part go????

I found it. It's the plastic check valve in the fuel filter assembly.

Re: Carb rebuild....Where does this part go????

What releases the secondaries. I am operating the throttle body and the secondaries are locked up with that arm under the choke assembly. Nothing touches that arm. Am I missing something here or what?

Re: Carb rebuild....Where does this part go????

If you go through naf's carb overhaul steps you will find your answer. In the picture where he is talking about the installation of the choke housing, he has already installed a lever on a nub on the main body. It has a notch in the end to catch the pin that you see going through the secondary throttle shaft. When the choke is on this will not let the secondary open. Hope this clears up your problem. Brian
