Axle/Gears: 3:42 spooled 10 bolt
sloppy spools
10 bolt spools,..ive considered it as a cheap option until i swap out for a 9 inch. but how bad is the slop in between splines etc.?

You may have better luck posting this in the transmission and drivtrain section. I've run spools in various cars over the years and never found anything that I would consider slop in the splines. Depends what your using the car for as to whether I'd run a spool though.

I don't understand your concern.
Unless you have defective or damaged splines, any "slop" with a spool will always be less than it would be with any differential.
