Decel pop possible cause?

So I installed the holly strip dominator intake on my 83 trans am with a little 305 with true dual exhaust, mild cam and a holly 600 cfm carb, and ever since the installation i have had the issue of decel pop almost comparable to a gunshot. At the installation of the intake I also installed a 160 degree t stat but am going to go to the 180 high flow, when I have the chance. My question is what could be causing the decel pop to become worse, could it be that the carb is too small for my setup, the t stat runs the car too cool,or just a product of the true duals. I'm new to this and I could use some advice
(The car runs like a top otherwise, I just don't like the decel pop all that much, I find it a little embarrassing)

Your A.I.R. pump diverter valve is malfunctioning...

Ah, ok. I don't have an a.i.r. valve installed. Is there another way to mitigate the popping without putting it back on. I'm not going back to stock anytime soon, and I'm hoping to do a 350 swap in the next couple years, I'm just trying to wake my 305 up a little for the time being.

Yes, remove the A.I.R. pump or at least the belt...

Exhaust leak sucking air in and unburned fuel in the exhaust do funny things. Friend had a EFI mustang that did it all the time.
