Losing fuel pressure to the carb.
Hey everyone! I just replaced the tbi unit on my Firebird and put on a carb and big cap hei distributor. I put a afpr and fuel pressure gauge in with it and plumbed all the lines accordingly. I set the pressure about six psi and the car runs pretty good. However it loses fuel pressure and dies in approximately ten seconds or less. I have checked all my lines and everything is hooked up properly. The only way to get fuel pressure back is by removing one of the lines and putting it back on and then cycling the key. Just cycling the key won’t work. I am very curious about what on earth is going on here. If you have experience with this problem or have experience with doing these swaps your advice would be very appreciated.

Re: Losing fuel pressure to the carb.
maybe you have the fuel pressure regulator hooked up wrong
or your computer is priming the pump and since you dont have the tbi unit any more, the computer isnt seeing any sensors and turning the pump off.
im not sure if that unit has an oil pressure switch kill as well on the fuel pump

The pressure regulator is hooked up correctly. I double checked that and the oil pressure sensor is hooked up. I have no idea what sensors would be telling it to kick off

I was able to figure out what was wrong. Apparently there is a wire going to the old distributor that has to be connected to the tach wire on the new distributor to activate the fuel pump when the engine is cranking.
